As parents, no matter how old our children are, we have the luxury of their warm smiles, big hugs and always knowing there is a tomorrow to share another day together.....but do we.... what if tomorrow your child goes missing?
When I met Debbie Estes, my life was changed forever. Not only was I humbled by her story, her courage and strength, but inspired to help and follow her example of determination, like many, to find her son. Debbie's son, Billy DiSilvestro went missing from Hamilton's West side on 2/7/11. Billy has a seizure disorder, his family have not seen or heard from him since. Many, many searches throughout hamilton and the surrounding area have been unsuccessful.
There are thousands missing in the U.S, every 3 minutes in America a child becomes missing or is abducted, I can't even fathom the statistics let alone the reality of living as the parent of a missing child. There are many causes and charities you may support, many pages and links pleading for donations every day on Facebook. I know we'd love to help each and every one of them, but I urge you, please help me help Debbie. We are planning Billy's second annual Bike run, "Riding to bring Billy Home". Debbie has worked so very hard to raise 5,000 as a reward for information regarding her sons disappearance or whereabouts, to no avail, she searches alone or with help every day God sends her to find her baby boy. Can you even imagine that desperation? The depair in her eyes shatters our hearts, but still she smiles and helps others who's children are also missing. She is the bravest woman I know and I want to help her raise money for billboards, pins, flyers, a bench to advertise and above all a cadavar dog to help on searches and more. These vital tools cost more than we can raise alone. If you can donate anything to be raffled or auctioned or if you can help Debbie to raise the funds in any other way, please, please get in touch. Billy's 30 th birthday is coming up, he needs to be found and brought home, his family desperately seek answers, closure and peace. This local family has been through enough. Please stay tuned for more information of the upcoming Bike Run and Lantern Release for Billy's 30th Birthday and please come out to support this wonderful family. Thank you and God bless.
